Nice is where the consortium reached the Mediterranean, and where its European training line had its seat. ISI-CNV brought hypnotherapy, NLPIII and non-verbal communication into a network otherwise rooted in Himalayan scholarship, hosted the Verdon programmes, and by 2016 the city stood among the consortium’s own counselling centres, beside Kathmandu, London and Swansea.
Eight catalogued sources record it.
What the sources show
The member-status list of the regulations records ISI-CNV under France (Italy), with Marco Paret as EXE/FO for NLPIII, hypnotherapy and quantum psychology (CAIRN-2008-MOU). The 2009 partner page names the ISI-CNV Institute in Nice among CAIRN's affiliated institutions and describes it as a training institute in NLP psychotherapy and hypnotherapy in the south of France (CAIRN-2009-VALCROS).
The Avalon / Verdon material names the Valcros Raven Retreat of 2008–2009 in connection with William René Leon, Tibetan and Mongolian teachers and Dr. Marco Paret, and describes escorted journeys of fourteen to twenty-one days to Keltic and Cathar sites in South France (CAIRN-2012-AVALON).
In December 2013 Leon wrote to Paret of rebooting the Professional Doctorate School, with research and development for 2014 and limited annual training events in the Nice area, with Paret as partner (MAIL-2013-12-30-REBOOT).
Nice as a CAIRN centre
In 2016 the consortium listed its OTG Counselling Centres across nine locations on four continents: Bauddha Stupa in Kathmandu, London and Swansea in Wales, Louvain-la-Neuve and Brussels in Belgium, Spokane in the United States, Winnipeg in Canada, and Nice and Verdon in the South of France (CAIRN-2016-OTG). Nice is named there not as an affiliate but as a location of the consortium's own counselling network, alongside its Nepalese and British seats.
The year before, the consortium was running the Termas Foundation programme — Integrated Traditional/Modern Curriculum R&D 2015 — with a membership application form whose stated benefits included invitations to conferences, exhibitions, retreats and concerts (CAIRN-2015-TERMAS). The research and development activity that Leon had proposed to Paret at the end of 2013 was, two years later, a running programme with its own enrolment.
Exhibitions and the 2008 season
The programme material of April 2008 announces the group of 16–31 August 2008 under the heading Comparative Research in Himalayan and Keltic Traditional Healing, with a French coordination contact, a printable flyer and an exhibition poster prepared in ArtAire format for printing (CAIRN-2008-AFFICHE). Exhibitions recur in the consortium's material as one of the standing forms of its cultural activity, listed again in 2015 among the benefits of Termas Foundation membership.
Nice within the network
Across the whole catalogued corpus, from the draft statutes of 2005–06 to the correspondence of 2013, Nice is the consortium's reference point in the western Mediterranean. It is the seat named for ISI-CNV in the regulations, the city named on the partner site, and the place proposed for the training events of the 2014 programme. The Tibetan and Keltic lines of CAIRN reached Europe through it.
