For more than twenty years the CAIRN Consortium connected East and West at university level: Tibetan and Himalayan medicine and philosophy on one side, European anthropology, development studies, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy on the other, joined by a memorandum of understanding and a professional doctorate programme. This is its archive: the documents it published, preserved and indexed so that they can still be read.
What CAIRN is
CAIRN is an international academic and research network, constituted through Memoranda of Understanding between participating institutions, units and non-governmental organisations, with a collegial governance structure of committees and boards. Its affiliation page expands the acronym as the Center for Advanced Integrated Research in Nepal and describes it as a non-profit organisation and provider of higher education and training, affiliated with St Xavier's Social Services and St Xavier's Campus in Kathmandu, with Swansea University's Centre for Development Studies, with units of the Université catholique de Louvain, and with the ISI-CNV Institute in Nice.

A network without an ending
The CAIRN corpus contains no dissolution clause and no record of dissolution. What it contains instead is a structure made for duration: committees, regional heads in three countries, delegation of function, and a formal stand-by status for members whose activity varies. The consortium is constituted by agreement between its signatories, and those agreements stand: no document in the archive revokes them.
Twenty-three years in the public record
Ninety-six pages of the CAIRN corpus, preserved in the Internet Archive across four independent domains, name Dr. Marco Paret or ISI-CNV. The earliest was archived in December 2003, the most recent captures were taken in 2026. On the consortium's own sites, ISI/CNV (Dr. Marco Paret) stands as a permanent entry in the navigation menu, and the institute is named in the affiliation statement carried in the page footer. The historical archive and selected CAIRN research and educational lines are maintained and progressively reactivated by Dr. Marco Paret / ISI-CNV, recorded in the CAIRN regulations as Executive Board and Founding Member (EXE/FO). The continuity is documentary and institutional: the same institute, in the same city, holding the same corpus.
