CAIRN Consortium Historical Archive

International academic and research network — documentary archive, from the 2004 network pages to present-day archival continuity.

A preserved corpus. The public CAIRN pages were hosted on Tripod, which closed on 24 April 2026. This archive preserves them: every catalogued page is linked to its capture in the Internet Archive, where it can be read in its original form. Verification of the collection: 10 August 2026.

What CAIRN was

CAIRN was an international academic and research network organised through Memoranda of Understanding between participating institutions, units and non-governmental organisations, with a collegial governance structure of committees and boards. Its surviving affiliation page expands the acronym as the Center for Advanced Integrated Research in Nepal and describes it as a non-profit organisation and provider of higher education and training, affiliated with St Xavier's Social Services and St Xavier's Campus in Kathmandu, with Swansea University's Centre for Development Studies, with units of the Université catholique de Louvain, and with the ISI-CNV Institute in Nice.

The core statement of this archive

CAIRN Consortium was an international academic and research network organised through Memoranda of Understanding, participating institutions and a collegial governance structure. The surviving published regulations list Dr. Marco Paret / ISI-CNV as EXE/FO — Executive Board and Founding Member. The historical archive is now preserved, and selected activities are being progressively reactivated, by Dr. Paret / ISI-CNV in continuity with the documented network.

A network without an ending

The published CAIRN corpus contains no dissolution clause and no record of dissolution. What it contains instead is a structure made for duration: committees, regional heads in three countries, delegation of function, and a formal stand-by status for members whose activity varies. The consortium was constituted by agreement between its signatories, and those agreements were never revoked in any document the archive holds.

Present-day continuity

The historical archive and selected CAIRN research and educational lines are maintained and progressively reactivated by Dr. Marco Paret / ISI-CNV, recorded in the CAIRN regulations as Executive Board and Founding Member (EXE/FO). The continuity is documentary and institutional: the same institute, in the same city, holding the same corpus.

Last verification of sources: 10 August 2026.
